Forbes: Most Stolen Electronics – Featuring GadgetTrak
Tuesday, December 23, 2008

Forbes recently featured GadgetTrak in an article titled “Most Stolen Electronics” which discussed the epidemic of electronics theft and the risks it poses to not only consumers but also businesses. Steve Bertoni did an excellent job pulling together statistics from the FBI and other trusted sources, this is probably the most in depth study I have seen to date. My favorite quote is “With GadgetTrak’s sneaky defenses, it almost makes you wish your BlackBerry or MacBook gets snatched.”

GadgetTrak At MacWorld 2009
Saturday, December 20, 2008

GadgetTrak will have a booth at MacWorld again this year (Booth #3734) , which is turning out to be a historical event as it appears to be the last MacWorld where Apple will be participating, so we are excited to be part of it. MacWorld has been an exciting even for GadgetTrak, last year we had a lot of folks visit our booth and provide feedback regarding the products we offer and is this feedback that drives our development and innovation, so we are very excited to attend again this year and meet our customers and partners. GadgetTrak’s MacTrak has also been selected for several features including the First Looks program, as well as the pre-show product showcase and is also candidate for Best of Show.

Help A Denton, Texas MC/DJ Replace His Stolen Laptop
Monday, December 15, 2008

This past Saturday night, while Denton, Texas MC/DJ Ian Bangs was working at a show, someone broke into his apartment and stole his MacBook,  a laptop that Bangs is still making payments on. Of course it is more than just the value of the laptop, but also the fact that as Bangs stated “All my stuff is on there–all of it! It’s like losing a best friend. Seriously, it’s my life.”

This Thursday night his friends have pulled together to put on a benefit show to help buy Bangs as a new laptop.  The show will be at Rubber Gloves in Denton, TX Thurdsay night (18th) if you are in the area we suggest you show up, there is a great line up of artists and there is free beer from 9pm-10pm, with only a $5 cover charge. All of the  proceeds from the party will go toward helping Bangs get a new MacBook (and, one hopes, bring in enough to finish paying off one that was stolen).

UPDATE: Nicco is now a GadgetTrak customer. After going through the pain of losing his MacBook Air, he wanted to make sure his new one did not suffer the same fate and installed MacTrak on this system.

So I was browsing through Flickr today and I came across this image:

Come to find out this was printed up by Nicco Mele who had his MacBook Air on his chair to get a cup of coffee. He was so angry about being violated like this that he decided to offer a huge reward hoping the thief would reveal himself:

McCain Campaign Sells Info-Loaded Blackberry to FOX 5 Reporter
Friday, December 12, 2008

In Washington D.C., the McCain-Palin campaign was going to sell its used office inventory at low prices. A group of reporters showed up to find the only items of value were Blackberry’s for $20 each, most of the batteries were dead and they did not have chargers, however they contained something even more valuable; information. When the staffers brought the devices back to the office and fired them up they found contact numbers for people connected with the McCain-Palin campaign along with hundreds of emails from September up to election night. Included were private cell phones for campaign leaders, politicians, lobbyists and journalists.
